Fluttering Designs - By Vanessa Kennedy

Hey everyone,

My friend Vanessa has been busy the past few years making jewelry and now has a shop set up online through Etsy. She also sells some of her jewelry in local shops in North Bay, ON, her "hometown".

Check out this necklace she made, I think is super fantastic.

Description: This lightweight necklace is the perfect addition to any fall wardrobe!

An 8mm Copper colored Stardust bead is surrounded by wooden beads decorated with copper colored bead caps, 6mm Light Smoked Topaz Swarovski crystals, and copper colored rounds. The toggle clasp closure makes it easy for both left handed and right handed folks to put on and take off.

Length from clasp to clasp is 21".

Hey and why not grab the matching earrings while yer at it!

California Stars

This one's for Dave, posted it in January 08, but I was going through all of my music posts and thought I would re-post this one, cause I love the song, like I mentioned before, it's not the real video, but it's still pretty cool.
Dave, you're awesome.

Move your feet

Here's another awesome track i discovered today by Junior Senior from Denmark, I guess they broke up this past September. Damn, I'm so behind.

Control yourself,

Take only what you need from him...

Ok, I admit, I'm a bit obsessed. I just can't get enough of MGMT lately.
I love everything about this song. Good beat, catchy sound, good lyrics.
I'm back into obsessing about music again, and have been discovering tons of new music that I'm really diggin'. I feel better

Revival - Soulsavers

So I heard this song while I was eating lunch in Banff. I friggin loved it but didn't know who it was. Good thing I have "shazam" on my iphone, I just pointed my phone as close to the speaker as I could, hit "tag" my phone listens to the song for 20 seconds and then it tells me who the band is, the song and album. AWESOME!
I haven't heard any of their other songs, but this one is really good. Very chill, cool song. What's up with all the jesus/religion references though, like check out their track listing on the album "It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land" The album features Mark Lanegan (former member of QOTSA) on vocals for 8 out of the 10 tracks, including "Revival".

Nice pants, Seriously?

Meet Park Jin-young, a Korean singer who is trying to liberalize sex in Korea.
Couldn't think of a better way?

Here are some more pictures taken in Banff, some on the mountain and some in the town.

Ok how awesome is this picture?

Nick, holding his hat cause it was windy!

Another nice view.

I love this picture, the view in the background doesn't look real. Wicked!

Another one of Nick and I, on the mountain. Is that a frozen tear coming from his eye?

Holy close up batman, you can see the pores on my forehead, that's HAAAT!

NICE FACE, and this, my friends, is why I'm getting a haircut tonight. UHHHG!

Once-a-day Bean Factoid.

Well that shit's pretty fuckin cute.

Now let's have a look at the translation......

1.(Caption) Mame-shiba [Bean-"shiba"; not sure what "shiba" means. Maybe an abbrev. of "(theatrical) play".]
(Caption) Nattou-shiba [Nattou is fermented beans.]
(Bean) Good morning!
(Lady) What?!
(Bean) 200 million bacteria live (lit. 'come and go') in a kangaroo's pouch.
(Singing) Once-a-day Bean Factoid.
(Text) [Same as what bean and singing said.]

2.(Caption) Mame-shiba
(Curtain) Bar (lit. ‘alcohol’)
(Old Man) Huh?
(Caption) Edamame-shiba
(Edamame) Hey, did you know?
(Old Man) What is it??
(Edamame) They say France’s dandelions are really stinky.
(Old Man) I’m done. (lit. ‘Thanks for the tasty meal.’; traditional post-meal saying)
(Singing) Once-a-day Bean Factoid.
(Text) [Same as what edamame and singing said.]

3.(Caption) Mame-shiba
(Boy) Time to eat! [A non-religious traditional grace.]
(Caption) Green pea-shiba.
(Pea) Ta-da!
(Pea) Hey, did you know? They say a kangaroo’s pee-pee (lit. ‘bed-wetting’) is really stinky.(Boy) Mom…
(Singing) Once-a-day Bean Factoid.
(Text) [Same as what pea and singing said.]

Japanese people are so kooky, I just don't get it.

As seen on CUTEOVERLOAD today.

Loving the newest Ladytron album, Velocifero.

Burning up - Ladytron

Kletva - Ladytron, this song is so awesome, especially halfway through. Awesome sound

Tomorrow - Ladytron

Just like heaven part 1

So it was mine and Nicks 1 year anniversary on Friday, so I surprised him with a trip to Banff. We left Saturday morning and came back Sunday evening.
On Saturday, we went to the Sulphur Mountain Gondolla, took the Gondola to the top of the mountain, here are a few pics of the view from the top of the mountain. They were taken with my iphone so they aren't the best quality. Once we get the pictures from Nicks camera I will post more.

Just like heaven part 2

It snowed overnight on Saturday, so sunday morning when we woke up, the entire town was covered in a blanket of snow. Like a lot! Sunday, we just walked around and checked out some of the shops and had a lunch at an Irish pub. We went for a walk along the Bow river and encountered 2 really big deer. So we had a photo shoot.

Banff is the most beautiful town I have ever seen. Everyone should go there, at least once in their lifetime.

I'll take back the city...

Ok, Hmmm.
What should I write about.
I love Calgary.
I love my job.
I love my boyfriend.
I love my apartment.

What else.

Nick wakes me up every morning, on time, with a bath ready for me, with bubbles, ducks and a cup of coffee on the side. And even makes breakfast most days of the week. How sweet is that? In return, I make supper for when he gets home from work.
I'm really happy here. The best move I've ever made.

I mean there are things I don't like about my job, but I'm learning the in's and out's and I think things are going to be really good there.
I work in an office, 2 floors, 24th and 25th, I have an amazing view of the rockies, about 140 people in total on both floors.
My department has 5 people including me, we are tucked away in our own special section, we don't deal with customers, my phone never rings, I love it.
We rule. haha. My coworkers range from 35-40, except me of course.
We make fun of eachother and talk shit to eachother often during the day.
If we ask eachother to do a shitty job, we compensate oneanother with coffee or candy.
We swear, gossip, talk trash, all in the most professional way.
The "other chick" in my department, I will call her "T" she is basically a more sofisticated 10 year older version of me.
I get paid a decent wage, great benefits, 15 minutes to work by bus.
I couldn't be happier.

p.s. just for the hell of it, I will mention this: I think Obama's a Douche!

Take back the city

Once again, another video that I can't embed.
From Snow Patrol's newest album, A hundred million suns.
Fucking fantastic album, all the way through.
C'est tout!

Oh, p.s. I'm glad "dude" got a hair cut. Much better!

Use Somebody

Well for some reason I'm not able to actually embed this video on my blog, I guess it's a secret or something. bastards.

Effin love this song.
Kings of Leon, my obsession as of the past few months.

Gets better, year by year!

Ghosts - Ladytron
From their album Velocifero released in June of 08

La Vie!

Well it's been a while since I've actually said anything on my blog, just been posting funny stuff or whatever.

So the scoop is, I work for an insurance company in Calgary, it's pretty decent, kind of old school, way different than you would expect for a big company, but I realise that things are growing in the west so things are very new in many ways. Hmmmm, there's a lot of room for me to jump in and take charge I guess, but not a lot of motivation I suppose in a lot of ways. People out here DO NOT like change. Which can be rough, but there's a big demand. So I suppose it's a matter of approaching things in a certain way...not in the way like "I'm a Toronto snob and things should be done this way" I'm not a Toronto snob, I'm not from Toronto, and it doesnt mean that all T.O folks are snobs, but heck, since I've been here, I've realised and felt the "toronto is The centre of the earth mentality"

I've always gotten it. But now in the workplace I feel it, and see it. 2 of our depts at work are being closed down and moved to the Toronto location, fundraising initiatives are Ontario/Toronto focused, etc. Right now we are doing a ton of United Way fundraising, and when your head office (Toronto) organizes the auction items and they are Leafs tickets, and raptors tickets as the 10 big ticket and ONLY items, how many westerners do you expect to bid on them. etc. Just a minute example, but a major way you can shunt your doners from the west coast. There's nothing cool going on in our office of over 100 people.

That's it for now

Oh p.s.
Happy Halloween.
My departments (5 people) mini putt course won best hole. It was my coworker Tanya and I who designed it, and did a kick ass job at doing so. Our prize? Bragging rights. That sucked, I'm going to join the social comittee or something cause then I can help organize more fun events, they need to spice things up a bit....GOOD thing I work in the business development dept, (MARKETING) cause I'm going to bring out some ideas, they might even be good ones :)

Watermelon Nights!

Whatever....It's funny!
